Steps to Enroll:

To enroll in the Student Module, please click the respective buttons below, where you will be invited to join an ICDTA® group. The password required to enter both groups is icdta*1016. From there, you may create an ICDTA® account (or use an existing one) to access the Student Module.

Note: If you already have an existing ICDTA® account, you will be asked to log in. Upon logging in, you will not be enrolled in the module but simply logged into your account. As such, you will not see the course in your account. Instead, please keep this tab open while enrolling in another tab. This way, once you log into your account, you can return to this page to complete your enrollment!

Student Module – Establishing Safe, Caring and Respectful Digital Communities

Module Overview

This module is intended for students in Grades 8 to 12 within SD27: Cariboo/Chilcotin

This student module covers all things digital, from being a good digital citizen to the criminal consequences of cyberbullying. Some of the most prominent concerns surrounding students’ use of social media platforms and smartphones will be discussed.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

  • Digital media habits, oversharing, and digital addiction
  • The permanence of online posts/activity
  • The significance of your digital tattoo in how others perceive you (e.g., sports teams, college admissions, and potential employers)
  • The importance of caring for peers both online and offline
  • Geo-locational settings and the dangers of social media and cell phone misuse
  • The social and legal consequences of cyberbullying behavior as well as possession and distribution of intimate images (sexting and sextortion)
