Law enforcement and school administrators are often targets or subjects of threat-related behavior. When almost every aspect of our lives is touched by some form of technology, the best approach to ensuring your digital privacy is to increase your digital literacy. This session provides an overview of privacy settings in social media applications and guidelines for how to prevent personal information from being exploited. Participants will leave this session with a better understanding of the steps to take to ensure a safe and private digital tattoo. With proper knowledge and prevention strategies, individuals can reduce the potential risk of becoming a target of doxxing, swatting, phishing scams, grooming and other online threats.

 This training will include:

  • How to identify personal publicly available information to avoid negative impact
  • How to identify public sources of private information, including on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter
  • Using Boolean search operators to find out what information is out there about you or your loved ones
  • Enabling secure privacy settings on social media platforms
  • Understanding the steps to take to ensure a safe and private digital tattoo
