Worrisome Online Behavior™ Reports

Digital Threat Assessment® is the missing link for Safety and Threat Assessment teams. When initiating and engaging in a Threat Assessment, the analysis of an individual’s digital footprint is often overlooked. The omission of an individual's online activities and digital behavior can negatively impact a Threat Assessment and your teams intervention efforts to prevent violence.

Worrisome Online Behavior™ (WOB) Reports were developed to complement the evolving needs of community safety.

WOB™ Reports are monthly reports sent to safety designates and are designed to complement the evolving needs of your Safety and Threat Assessment teams. This service includes the collection of publicly available, open-sourced social media content related to an individual and enhances your school community’s safety and welfare by identifying potential risks or threats in near real-time, allowing for proactive intervention.

Communication Goals

Our WOB™ Reports provide data from sources that are publicly available to all Internet and social media users. Our Threat Analyst's are highly experienced in open source intelligence, and combined with the use of various filters, keywords and geolocational data, our team is able to proactively alert officials to information that indicates a potential for harm to an individual, staff member, school and surrounding community.

When developing our WOB™ Reports, our team does not attempt to bypass privacy settings to access privileged information. We recognize our responsibility to handle all information collected about an individual with care and oblige to respect individual privacy and personal information.

The goals of this communication plan is to promote understanding of the objectives and benefits of our WOB™ Reports, as well as alleviate potential privacy concerns and misconceptions regarding these reports.

Background and Key Features

Our team of subject matter experts have over 100 years of collective experience in implementing intervention and prevention strategies.

We are responsible for the delivery of the highly-successful ERASE strategy throughout British Columbia and have provided years of extensive consultation on high-profile incidents across North America.

When evaluating social media data, our team uses best practices from the field of School Safety / Threat Assessment. Only publicly available, open-sourced content is collected in our WOB Reports and provided to safety designates. Any information collected can also be seen by every other Internet and social media across the globe. We will only collect and disseminate information to safety designates if it is deemed to affect the culture, climate and safety of a school, staff, student and community.

The reach WOB™ Reports provide in the maintenance of public safety is widespread. These reports can potentially alert officials to individuals who have an intention of or are planning a significant threat to personal and/or public safety. Often, individuals want to be heard and to be helped, but they struggle with who to approach. These reports can serve as a means for providing support for individuals struggling with mental health issues.

Early identification is at the core of threat assessment and the real-time identification of worrisome online behavior™ plays a critical role in mitigating and preventing community violence.

WOB Reports can assist your Safety and Threat Assessment teams in the early identification of individuals on the pathway to violence, gang involvement, criminal radicalization, suicide, incidents of racism and targeted hate, as well as threats targeting students, staff, and surrounding communities.
